4/7/13 Colic

The night evidently wasn't so bad, but Josiah fussed and cried, off and on, for most of 6-11am. We had stopped giving him the Colic Calm medicine, because he had no symptoms, and frankly, black sticky stuff in his mouth and black poop are a bit of a deterrent.

Icky sticky black stuff!

We made it through church on 30% sleeping in his car seat, 30% swaddle, and 30% bottle. (I must have been sleeping for the 10% that's unaccounted for) :) No crying during prayer, just some sucking and grunting sounds. It was a rough afternoon. I got a nap only because Bryan watched Josiah for me. He probably needs one too, but I forgot to offer. We mostly hung around dealing with a fussy baby and watching what we could of TV shows between cries. Subtitles were appreciated. We have been unable to lay Josiah down. Maybe we don't have a steep enough angle to help his stomach pain. We decided to get another baby thing. We are rather minimalist when it comes to baby equipment, but we can't hold him upright all night, so at 10:30 Bryan went and bought a bouncy seat. Hears to hoping it'll help some tonight.

Testing the bouncy seat

We did have some sweet baby moments where he was very alert, looking around and cooing a bit. We are trying to hang onto those moments to help us through the crying fits until the colic medicine does it's magic, black magic. I think I'll buy one without charcoal next to see if it works, and we won't have to have all that nasty black stuff.

Moving so much I can't get a focused picture, but he smiled!
Checking out the world.
